LUNAR for Windows 1.0 - Microsoft Windows Screen Manager/Enlarger LUNAR for Windows has been produced to enable you to enlarge the screen of a Microsoft Windows application up to eight times its normal size, and to manage the enlarged screen. LUNAR incorporates the following features: * Choice of Magnification 1x, 2x, 4x, 6x, and 8x magnification, selectable from hot keys. * Automatic Following of the Mouse Pointer LUNAR can automatically follow the mouse pointer, with selectable scroll margins and scroll speeds. * Automatic Following of Menus and Dialog Boxes LUNAR can automatically follow all windows, Dialog boxes, controls within Dialog boxes, pop-up and pull-down menus. It can also optionally centre on the LUNAR screen any menu or Dialog box that appears. This automatic tracking feature draws your attention immediately to any menu or Dialog box that appears. * Automatic Following of Text Entry Cursors LUNAR can automatically follow the text entry cursors, such as those found in Word for Windows, Notepad, and Write. * Automatic Following of the Keyboard Focus LUNAR can automatically move the mouse pointer (and therefore the display) to the current keyboard focus, selectable with a hot key. * Overview facility LUNAR has an overview facility, so that you can see where you are on the 'real' screen and view the layout. (Selectable with a hot key.) * Line View Facility LUNAR has a Line View facility, which allows you to view the window currently under the mouse pointer as a single line moving across the centre of the LUNAR screen. This is a form of the popular 'scrolling' feature of our earlier software. (Selectable with a hot key.) * Help facility LUNAR has a context-sensitive on-line help facility. * User-definable hot keys All hot keys are user-definable, to avoid key clashes with other Windows applications. * User-definable Mouse Pointer colour You can change the mouse pointer to a colour of your choice, independent of the application running. * If you run a DOS application in a Window, LUNAR will follow the applications DOS cursor! * Automatic Application Configuration All these features allow you to tailor LUNAR for efficient and 'intelligent' presentation of information. Once such customisation has been created for a particular application, these settings can be saved and reloaded automatically every time that application is started. This is a powerful feature of LUNAR, because you can go on to create configuration files for all your Windows applications, and have them automatically load when you start your Windows application! ****************************************************************************** Price: LUNAR for Windows 1.0 450.00 ($ US) Dolphin also produces: * A screen enlarger/manager for DOS LUNAR 2 for DOS 300.00 ($ US) * A screen reader for speech output from DOS applications HAL 4.8 330.00 ($ US) * A range of internal and external multilingual speech synthesisers (We have around 40 languages readily available!) (The demonstration program requires that the file LWIN.DLL is in drive A: for it to run.) * Insert your demo disk into drive A:. * Type in the seven letters INSTALL, and press the key. INSTALL will rename your Windows display driver to ORIG.DRV, and install LUNAR's own Windows display driver VGA.DRV in its place. (LUNAR for Windows only works in the standard Windows VGA 640x480x16 colour mode.) * Start Microsoft Windows in the usual manner. i.e. type WIN and press . * From the Program Manager open the File menu by pressing and . * Select the option Run by pressing . * When the the Run dialog box appears type A:\LUNARWIN and press . (LUNAR will then start.) Using LUNAR yourself: Altering the Magnification 1. To increase the magnification: Click on the Magnify button. (or press and and .) The magnification will increase to 2x. Successive clicks on the Magnify button will increase the magnification in steps of 2x, up to 8x magnification. (i.e. 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x magnifications.) 2. To decrease the magnification: Click on the Reduce button. (or press and and .) The magnification will decrease by 2x. Successive clicks on the Reduce button will decrease the magnification in steps of 2x, down to no magnification 3. Alternatively, you can switch directly to the magnification of your choice by pressing one of the following hot keys: and and for normal size. and and for 2x magnification. and and for 4x magnification. and and for 6x magnification. and and for 8x magnification. Overview mode The text and graphics that appear on a LUNAR screen are just an enlarged version of a section of the 'real' screen. This can be demonstrated as follows: 1. Enter LUNAR's Overview facility, by pressing and and . You will see the screen change to a normal display and a rectangle appear in reverse video on the screen. This is called LUNAR's Overview facility because it gives you an overview of the 'real' screen. The text that appears in the rectangle is what LUNAR magnifies, 2. Move the rectangle around by moving the mouse. 3. Finally, leave LUNAR's Overview facility, by pressing any key or clicking any mouse button. Line View mode Line View mode allows you to view the window currently under the mouse pointer as a single line moving across the centre of the LUNAR screen. This is a form of the popular 'scrolling' feature of our earlier software. 1. To enter Line View mode, press: and and 2. To start the text scrolling, press: 3. To leave it, press: While in Line View mode: To start or stop a smooth scroll of the window under the mouse pointer across the LUNAR screen, press: To increase the speed of the scroll, press: To decrease the speed of the scroll, press: To directly select the speed of the scroll, press: <1>-<7> (1=slowest, 7=fastest) To move to start of the previous line, press: To move to start of the next line, press: To move forward three quarters of a screenful, press: To increase magnification, press: To decrease magnification, press: To quit, press: You may find it convenient to control Line View mode entirely from the numeric keypad using the above keys. On the LUNAR display new lines are denoted by ||. On machines with an LCD display, the continuous scrolling in Line View mode will almost certainly appear as a blur on the screen. This is due to time that is takes the crystals to change their orientation. So the best method of viewing text in Line View mode on an LCD display is to advance three quarters of a screenful at a time using the key, rather than using to continuously scroll the text. To change the way Line View mode works: 1. Click on the Line View button. This will bring up the Line View Settings dialog box, which lets you to do the following: * Control whether or not new lines are shown * Set the minimum height in pixels of the text/graphics to be Line Viewed. * Set the minimum height in pixel of the space between lines. You need only alter the last two parameters if when in Line View mode no lines, or more than one line of text is being scrolled at a time. If Line View has no lines to scroll it will give a beep. This can occur for one of the following reasons: The window under the mouse pointer is not on top. The mouse pointer is outside the boundary of the window. There isn't anything to read: perhaps the window contains a bitmap image (picture) that is too large to fit on the LUNAR screen. Pointer Colour This cycles the mouse pointer through a range of 9 colours. Stay in Window If this is selected LUNAR places a restriction on the mouse pointer, so the display does not move away from the current window/dialog box. Centring If this is selected, then objects such as menus and small dialog boxes will be centred on the display (if they will fit). Screen to Mouse If Screen to Mouse is selected, the magnified display window will jump to the position of the mouse pointer. Mouse to Screen If Mouse to Screen is selected, then if the mouse pointer is not visible, the pointer is repositioned in the centre of the display. Mouse to current option If this is selected, then the mouse pointer will be moved automatically to the current focus, when you change the current focus from the keyboard. Menu Margin This affects how much of the menu (how many options) are displayed above and below the currently selected option. Follow Everything This enables LUNAR to follow most drawing operations. Follow Cursors This follows any text entry cursor. Follow Objects This will follow highlighted text, such as the text under icons, or the file selection highlight in File Manager. In some programs you will not want this on, as it may clash with Follow Cursors. Changing LUNAR's Hot Keys Clicking on the Set Hot Keys button brings up a dialog box in which you can change LUNAR's default hot keys. Frames LUNAR has four scroll margins at the top, bottom, left and right hand side of the screen. These four margins are collectively known as a frame. LUNAR has two types of frame: A Mouse Frame and Cursor Frame. As soon as the mouse pointer or text entry cursor is moved into one a scroll margin LUNAR will attempt to scroll the screen in the appropriate direction. You can change the width of each of the scroll margins by clicking on the Mouse Frame or the Cursor Frame buttons. Horizontal & Vertical Move You can change the horizontal and vertical speed that LUNAR scrolls by when it enters a scroll margin.
